Fox Cache Showdown

Former Seatuck educator, Jessie Comba, captured this fascinating sequence a few years ago of an encountered that ensued as one fox tried to recover a cached carcass. 

A vixen finds a previously cached bird carcass  and begins to recover it from the frozen earth.

It's not long before her activity attracts company.

The visitor settles in to watch and wait.

She hopes her patience will be rewarded.

Eventually the vixen tires of her company's watchful stare ...

and the inevitable tussle ensues and she tries to scare away her spectator.

Having earned some space she returns to the work of recovering her prize.

With the carcass uncovered, she's off ...

to find a place to feed in peace!
